The fresh smells wafting from the stage are mouthwatering, and when Esparza opens the second act by creating a new salmon concoction, the extended wordless scene works the same way a flashy number would in a musical.

Due to popular demand, MCC Theater has announced a 3-week extension for its upcoming New York premiere of Seared, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and two-time Emmy Award nominee Theresa Rebeck and directed by Tony Award nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel.
Seared is scheduled to begin previews at the Susan and Ronald Frankel Theater within the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space on October 3, 2019, ahead of an official opening on October 28, and will now run through December 1, 2019 (instead of November 10).
This is fantastic news for all involved, not least becasue the show hasn't even begun yet, and we offer our congratulations to the cast and creative team.
Raúl has been announced to play Harry in the upcoming New York premiere of Seared, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and two-time Emmy Award nominee Theresa Rebeck and directed by Tony Award nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel.
The cast also includes W. Tré Davis (as Rodney), David Mason (as Mike), and Krysta Rodriguez (as Emily).
Seared is a new fit-for-foodies comedy. Brilliant, hot-headed chef Harry scores a mention in a food magazine with his signature scallops, and his business partner Mike finally sees profits within reach. The only problem is Harry refuses to recreate his masterpiece for the masses. Mix in a shrewd restaurant consultant with a waiter with dreams of his own and it all goes to hell in this hilarious and insightful new play that asks us to consider where art ends and commerce begins. You’ve never seen (or smelled) a production quite like this.
Audience members will be up close to the action of the onstage, working kitchen in the intimate setting of the Susan and Ronald Frankel Theater.
Seared previously staged its world premiere at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in July 2018.
Tickets are available now for performances from October 3 through November 10, 2019.
